Greetings
Friends!
Calling for Testimonies : We need some testimonies from volunteers to include in a tabloid that Bowmar Baptist is putting together for us. The testimony should be about how coming to the Gulf Coast and helping the people has impacted your life. Please e-mail them to Martie @ pathfindermsn@bellsouth.net. Include the word "Testimony" in the Subject Line. Thanks We trust that is well with you and the Lord. We just finished a great week with volunteers from churches in Michigan and Alabama. The volunteers from Michigan belong to Penn Friends .. a purpose driven Quaker church ..... I have include a link which describes how that transformation occurred. We met a group from their church last May at the Purpose Driven Church conference at Saddleback. They were sitting in the row behind us, we struck up a conversation and invited them to the Gulf Coast. We talked a lot about walking (and living) by faith and about reaching out to those who are in need. Encouraging them to find their purpose and place in the "Story" as it unfolds. One of the cool things that happened during their visit was that our Bostitch finish nailer broke. It's the only one we have so it was a big deal. The next day I received a call from Bob Junkman (Yunkman) from DeMotte. He wanted to let me know that someone had signed up to come on March 4th that repairs pneumatic nailers .... Al wanted to know if we need any repaired. He would bring the parts necessary to fix them. There is a song "He Knows My Name" that says "I have a Father ..... He knows my name .... He knows my every thought .... He hears me when I call ....... Thank you Lord ..... I was reading My Utmost for His Highest the other day and thought I would share it and some thoughts with you. *************************************** Quote from Feb 26 My Utmost for His Highest. "Have you ever said to yourself, "I am impressed with the wonderful truths of God’s Word, but He can’t really expect me to live up to that and work all those details into my life!" When it comes to confronting Jesus Christ on the basis of His qualities and abilities, our attitudes reflect religious superiority. We think His ideals are lofty and they impress us, but we believe He is not in touch with reality— that what He says cannot actually be done. Each of us thinks this about Jesus in one area of our life or another. These doubts or misgivings about Jesus begin as we consider questions that divert our focus away from God. While we talk of our dealings with Him, others ask us, "Where are you going to get enough money to live? How will you live and who will take care of you?" Or our misgivings begin within ourselves when we tell Jesus that our circumstances are just a little too difficult for Him. We say, "It’s easy to say, ’Trust in the Lord,’ but a person has to live; and besides, Jesus has nothing with which to draw water— no means to be able to give us these things." And beware of exhibiting religious deceit by saying, "Oh, I have no misgivings about Jesus, only misgivings about myself." If we are honest, we will admit that we never have misgivings or doubts about ourselves, because we know exactly what we are capable or incapable of doing. But we do have misgivings about Jesus. And our pride is hurt even at the thought that He can do what we can’t. My misgivings arise from the fact that I search within to find how He will do what He says. My doubts spring from the depths of my own inferiority. If I detect these misgivings in myself, I should bring them into the light and confess them openly— "Lord, I have had misgivings about You. I have not believed in Your abilities, but only my own. And I have not believed in Your almighty power apart from my finite understanding of it."" ************************************************************* Wow! When I read this I thought about my struggle with thinking that "Jesus has nothing with which to draw water". Martie and I have had our faith challenged many times during the past 19 months. Time and again, the Lord has shown us that He can and will draw the water on our behalf and on the behalf of the people we minister to. In Mark 9:24 a man replied to Jesus ""I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!" (NIV)
What does the Lord
want to do through you? What is keeping you
from stepping out to fulfill your place and
purpose in the "Story"? Martie and I pray that
the Lord will give you the Spiritual
understanding and strength to begin, or continue
in, the journey that the Lord has prepared for
you. (Psalm 37:4)
Prayer requests.
We have hosted 38 Jewish highschool students
from Palo Alto, CA for the past three days.
Pray that a seed has been planted for them
to know Yeshua
as Lord
Pray for Craig. He is struggling with drug
addiction - crack cocaine and is ready for a
life change. I have shared the Lord with
him and prayed with him. His mom is trying
to get him into a Christian rehab in
Tennessee.
Continue to pray that the Lord will provide
the resources we need for this ministry.
Bunk Houses. We
will be bringing in some fill dirt and gravel
the week before HDC starts on the bunk houses
the week of March 12.
Rebuilding
I am
providing detail on these homes so you have an
idea of how many different volunteer groups are
involved and the tasks that remain that we need
help with.
Howard Home.
Pastor Howard and his wife are the latest family
we have taken on. Pastor Howard is disabled and
unable to do the difficult work of rebuilding.
Martie and I have been "aware" of a pastor and
his wife who lost their home and their church to
the storm for a few months. I had sent
volunteers out to their trailer to encourage
them and to assess their needs, but we had not
visited them personally. Two weeks ago Martie
mentioned that we needed to stop by to see how
they were doing. The pastor had been in the
hospital when Katrina made landfall and has not
been physically able to do anything with regards
to rebuilding his home or the church. While
returning from delivering pods to families in
Pearlington I received a call from Art Johnson,
a friend who inspects FEMA trailers. He asked
if there was any way we could pay a visit to
.... you guessed it ... Pastor Howard to talk to
him about his roof. We "just happened" to be
driving by the road that led to his house. I
"just happened" to have a roofer sitting in the
back seat of my truck. To make this a bit
shorter, since that phone call we have re-roofed
his house, installed the wiring, set exterior
doors, will install a heating and air
conditioning system next weekend, and should
complete the rough-in plumbing this week.

Harris Home.
The home owner is a elderly woman.

Next
Gillum Home.
The home owners are a couple who attend Little
Zion. Victorville, CA volunteers repaired the
roof, installed the hurricane straps, installed
the windows and doors, and rewired the
electrical system that other volunteers (not
ours) had installed ( yes, there are times when
volunteers do it wrong. The key is to not cause
a negative impact on the home owner's finances
... so if we (ever)
do it wrong, we will pay to fix it.)
The next phase includes finishing
hanging the sheetrock
and then taping and mudding.

Next
Davis Home.
Orlando, FL volunteers and AmeriCorps teams,
along with Vicksburg, MS volunteers hung
sheetrock. Volunteers from Eclectic, AL installed
the cabinets. They need plumbing
help.
Tooley Home.
Mr. Tooley is 79 years old and is attempting to
rebuild the home for his son who is in and out
of the local VA hospital and daughter-in-law who
has severe arthritis.
