We are in need of volunteers to help us with immediate rebuilding needs. We have been praying that the Lord would bring people to us that need help with their homes.  I guess the Lord heard us because now .....  our "cup runneth over"!!  In the past two weeks the Lord has brought a number of opportunities for us to help folks in the area.  I have described some of the building projects at the end of this e-mail.

The trend for the past two years during the months of May, June and August is that we have fewer volunteers than at any other time .  Presently we have no one committed to help with the building from May 1st to the 25th. You can check our calendar out to get a better idea.     http://www.pathfindermission.org/Calendar/VolunteerCalendar.htm

Please consider whether the Lord would have you join us.  In my experience, when I have been asked to do something that has spiritual significance, I have known almost immediately whether the Lord was speaking to my heart.  What I had to do was decide if I should obey or not.  So listen for the Lord in this.  If He is speaking to your heart, then call or send an e-mail and let me or Martie know.  (See our contact info below.) We need your help.  In Acts 16, Paul had a vision of a man in Macedonia asking Paul to "please come and help us."  Paul went but not just because of the man but because he was led by the Holy Spirit to go.  In Acts 20, Paul said he was compelled by the Spirit.

I shared with you in our last update that we are being intentional about collaborating with other local disaster relief organizations to share resources ... primarily volunteers.  I recently talked with the project leader (Earl) for Mennonite Disaster Services (MDS) based in Pass Christian, just across the bay.  MDS works on homes from October to May each year.  During their "down" period - May thru September - the projects are either idle or another organization picks them up.  When I met with Earl last Saturday,  he told me that he has been praying that another organization would come along that would want to collaborate with them.  I told him that I had the same issue on my heart.  When I went to his office, he was wearing a Promise Keeper's t-shirt so I took that as affirmation that we were like minded in our understanding of the Body of Christ and ministry.  After talking and praying with him, I was convinced of it.

Here is  some background on  the homes that we are currently working on.  I have posted pictures on our web site.   http://www.pathfindermission.org/Rebuild.html

Tim and Alma Phillips  Home - 1400sqft  Tim Phillips is disabled.

Some of you know Tim Phillips.  We have been ministering to Tim and his family for over a year.   He received a Katrina Cottage a few months ago and moved from the corner across from us to Bay Side Park, about 5 miles to the West.  Well, a ministry called International Relief and Development (IRD) committed to build a house for the Phillips.  Actually they committed to find the funds and work with an organization who would provide the volunteers.  MDS is that organization.  In turn, MDS has asked us to help with the building of the house.  This week we have been preparing the pilings, installing the floor joists and the floor system.  We hope to have the house dried in by the end of next weekend.

LaFontaine Home.  - 1400sqft   Ms LaFontaine is an elderly widow.

This home was started by MDS.  We finished sheeting the roof this past week.  We need to get the paper and shingles on as soon as possible.  Ms LaFontaine's son is an instructor at a local technical school in the Electrical trade.  He plans to bring some of his students to complete the rough in wiring.

Young Home.  Ms Young is an elderly widow.  She needs carpentry work on her porches and sheet rock and insulation.

Ladner Home.  Ms Ladner is an elderly widow.  She has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.  We are waiting for the close up inspection so we can complete the sheet rock and insulation.

Tartavoulle Home.   Mr Tartavoulle is disabled.  We are nearly finished with this home.  We need to finish painting the gables.

Nelson Home.  Mr Nelson is 83 years old.  The house is nearly completed.  The elevator and HVAC  were installed last Friday.  The cabinets arrive on the 28th of this month and will be installed the first week in May. We need to complete the finish electric and connect the plumbing to the sewer and water lines.

God Bless You
