Greetings!

As you know we were away from the camp for the week.  The camp was still here when we returned (Whew!)  We pulled a storage trailer to Eclectic, AL for safe keeping and to avoid having to leave it in the case of an evacuation.  We are one month into the hurricane season.  On the way up the "Check Engine" light came on.  Ugh!  It turned out to be the fuel pump but it got us to Eclectic, PTL.

Our meeting in Montgomery on Tuesday was productive.  We met with several churches and organizations that have an interest in planning for a response to the next disaster.  It was great to see the interest and willingness to continue responding to the needs of people.  This initiative is led by some folks in Montgomery. It seemed a bit strange to go there as a guest.

We continued to receive matrixed volunteers this week.  They have been a huge help to the community.  The challenge is not to let the matrixed volunteer project to get so big that we don't have the staff to manage it.  We hosted volunteers from Coal Mountain and Gateway Baptist ( our home church ).  Gateway is focusing on outreach to the folks who have requested a pod.  Right now that is a little over three hundred.  Kokomo is sending 40 pods to us next week which will give us the three hundred we have commitments for and then Demotte is sending an additional 90 +/- which will put us pretty close to 400.  Pretty awesome to see how God has provided for the pod ministry.  That also means we will be looking for some help to purchase the metal sheeting for 90 pods ... that is 630 sheets at $8.60 per sheet.  That is about $6000 with tax.

Gateway is going to have a cookout on the Fourth of July here at Pathfinder and are inviting folks from the surrounding neighborhoods to join us.  That is Tuesday at 1200 noon, so please be in prayer for us.

Next week we will receive two teams of 10 Americorps volunteers for two days per week (maybe three) .  They will help us build storage pods and do some work in the field.  Please pray that God will use the time with us to impact those young people for Christ.  We have agreed to not intentionally proselytize them, but trust that the Spirit will work in their hearts.

We want to encourage some volunteers to join us who want to do outreach visitation and prayer walking.  It's time to begin to pick up the pace on that aspect of our ministry.  If you are planning to come down, please consider bringing a few folks who have a heart and giftings to do outreach.

Martie met with a friend in Montgomery who has agreed to do our bookkeeping for us (Donna Conte).  Donna suggested that we speak to groups in order to raise funds for camp operations.  As you might guess raising money for missions like ours requires constant attention.  If you would like us to speak to your church or to some folks that you think might be interested in supporting this ministry please let us know.  Let me hasten to add that there are a number of churches and individuals that are already helping, for which we are grateful but we have used our own personal funds (a little over $4000) to pay for some of the camp expenses.

I feel like I have raised the money issue a good bit with this update.  I always feel uncomfortable doing that, but the bottom line is that it takes money to do what we do.  God will speak to the hearts of those who can and will stand in the gap for us.  So please prayerfully consider what the Lord might have you do to help us minister on the Gulf.  If you choose to support Pathfinder financially ....
