Military Corner

Martie and I spent a number of years in the Army serving our country.  Me as an enlisted soldier (before I was married) and later as an officer and Martie as an Army wife.  In fact, we received Christ while attending the Armor Officer Basic Course at Fort Knox and were first discipled by Chaplains and para-church missionaries.  The Lord does not waste any experience, but uses it for His purpose.  Often that purpose will be veiled from our sight for years or maybe until we get to heaven.  In addition to the ministry we do with Pathfinder Mission with local residents, Martie and I are associate staff with Campus Crusade for Christ, Military Ministry. Over the past three years, we have been given a number of opportunities to minister to Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and their families who have come here as volunteers.

What we do in the name of the Lord is for His glory and not for our own, so not knowing what happened to the seeds that we have planted over the years has not been a reason for despair .......   we are to live (and act and serve) by faith and not by sight.

In 2004, prior to Katrina, we helped our pastor form a ministry called Military Missions Network.   During that time my mom asked if I could find some information about a chaplain that had signed a bible my step-dad had gotten while serving in Korea in 1951.  (My dad had passed several years earlier)  I never was able to find the chaplain, but I did find information about him.    I don't think that the chaplain knew or imagined that his meeting with a young Marine on a hill in Korea would ripple through generations. I would like to share that story with you as an encouragement to speak when the Lord says speak and let Him bring the increase .... thanks for serving
